Program Essentials is the core plan that girls and
leaders use to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in River
Valleys. The national Girl Scout leadership journey books
are the foundation of Program Essentials, which is complemented by
additional skill-building activities.

Program Essential Pins
Each girl who completes the Program Essentials
requirements is eligible to receive a pin. These pins:
- are a special Our Own Councils' Earned Award that can
be earned each year
- can be worn on the front of the sash/tunic/vest above
the Journey awards
- represents one year of Program Essentials completion
- are signified by a different colored for each Girl
Scout grade level
- are free of charge
Learn where to place your pins on your uniform
To collect your pins, troop leaders:
- have the girls complete the Program Essentials
requirements by September 30
- bring the completed chart to the nearest Girl Scout
Shop soon after September 30 and exchange it for the pins
Charts may also be faxed, mailed or e-mailed to your
local Girl Scout Shop. Pins will be mailed within three weeks of
receipt of the chart.
2010-2011 Charts
The 2010-2011 Girl Scout program year is winding down, and its time to
submitt your 2010-2011 Program Essentials chart!
Girls
who complete Program Essentials are eligible to receive a free Program
Essentials pin. The 2010-2011 Girl Scout program year ends on
September 30th, 2011; Program Essentials charts should be submitted by
October 31st, 2011.
