training sessions, including
Leadership
Essentials and Beyond the Troop, for new and returning
leaders are
now posted on the
River Valleys Web site. You can
search for training by
city, county, session name, etc. – location details are
available by clicking on the session name in the search results. Please
be sure to register for all training sessions
to avoid arriving at a training location and not have a trainer show up
due to low registration numbers!
Leadership Essentials was
formerly Program Grade Level Training. It replaces Basic Leadership and
Age Level training.
Beyond the
Troop was formerly Outdoor Training. The table below
lists Beyond the Troop
training sessions, brief descriptions, and their equivalencies to
Outdoor Training sessions. Note that there is no direct correlation
from
previous training sessions to the
new Beyond the Troop training sessions.

Field Trip and Tour
Description: This
course is required in order for you to take your troop on any daytime
outings outside of the regular meeting place. Girls Field Trips and
Tours is the basic keystone training to other Beyond the Troop courses. Equivalency: No real
equivalent but any returning leader would not need this since it would
have been in Orientation Training and/or Basics Training.

Cook In
Description: This
course is for troops that want
to prepare food (including snacks)
at a meeting or on a trip. Equivalency: Was
included in Basic Outdoor Skills and Outdoor B (and
Outdoor AB) Training
Girls
Cook Out
Description: This
course
is for troops that want to do any outdoor/fire cooking. Equivalency: Was
included in Basic Outdoor Skills and Outdoor B (and
Outdoor AB) Training.
Girls
Sleep In
Description: This
course
is for troops planning
an overnight adventure of up to two nights and three days, sleeping
indoors. Equivalency: Was
included in Troop House and Outdoor A (and
Outdoor AB) Training.
Girls
Sleep Out
Description: This
course
is for troops planning an overnight adventure of up to two nights and
three days sleeping in
tents. Equivalency: Was
included in Intermediate Outdoor Skills (IOS) Training and Outdoor C
(as well as Outdoor ABC) Training.
Camping
Out
Description: This
combined session covers the information from Girls Cook
In, Girls Sleep In, Girls Cook Out,
and Girls Sleep Out. Equivalency: Was
included in Campcrafter (ABC) and Intermediate Outdoor
Skills (IOS) training.
Girls
Travel - US
Description: This
course
is for troops planning a regional or national trip lasting three or
more nights. Equivalency: Was
included in Extended Trip Training.
